Going, going...gone green |

The Sea Lab housekeeping staff is now 80% "green," thanks to their use of cleaning procedures and products that reduce impact on our environment and our health. By using a "quick connect" system that allows the proper dilution rate with cleaning products, the Housekeeping staff reduces the exposure of chemicals to employees, eliminates spills and reduces waste. Hepa filters on vacuum help clean the particles on floors and rugs. Just having rugs inside and outside of entryways aid the "green" effort by reducing the amount of dirt, dust and pollen from entering the buildings. Across campus, automatic soap and towel dispensers reduce waste; recycling bins allows housekeeping to recycle paper products. The Graduate Students of the Sea Lab are also doing their part by maintaining recycling bins for plastic, glass and other recyclables on campus. Everyone is pitching in to keep the campus "green." "We are very happy to know that we are helping our environment and our health," said Housekeeping Supervisor Tammy McClantoc. |
